Which employer documents belong in a renewal file?

A practical look at contracts, employer confirmations, payslips, and why dates must agree.

Employment evidence connects your current job to the residence title you want renewed. The exact list depends on the permit category and the responsible Ausländerbehörde, but several documents appear regularly.

Start with the current contract

Use the signed version that reflects your present role, salary, weekly hours, work location, and start date. If an amendment changed any of those terms, include it with the original agreement rather than submitting one in isolation.

Employer confirmation

Some authorities request a recent confirmation that employment continues and has not been terminated. Others use a specific form, often called an Erklärung zum Beschäftigungsverhältnis. Check the authority’s current instructions instead of relying on an old checklist.

Payslips and consistency

Recent payslips show that the employment relationship is active. Compare the employer name, gross salary, hours, and job title with the contract and application form. A difference may be harmless, but it should be understood before submission.

Ask HR early when a signature or company form is needed. The useful question is specific: which document, for which authority, by what date?

General guidance is only a starting point.

A consultation applies the preparation questions to your permit, employment, and local authority.
